The Prix de Lausanne, an international competition for young dancers, is open to young dancers of all nationalities aged 15 to 17 who are not yet professionals.
Its aim is to facilitate the future career of talented young dancers in different manners:

  • candidates who reach the finals, even if they do not win prizes, are considered to be excellent dancers.
  • winners of the competition may be awarded scholarships.

These scholarships consist of one free year of study at an internationally renowned dance school, or an apprentice scholarship in a world renowned international company, plus an amount of money to cover living expenses.

In 32 years, the Prix de Lausanne has rewarded 316 prize winners from over 35 different countries and allowed 138 among them to benefit from scholarships with excellent ballet schools. A great number of them have achieved an international career as principals in the most well-known dance companies around the world.
