From the 4th year of the Stedelijke Basisschool, pupils can enroll in the schools´ ballet department: SBS2.
To be accepted you have to pass the audition.
The complete cycle SBS2-RBA is as follows:

Students can enter SBS2 or the RBA at any given point in the curriculum, dependent on certain conditions:
- The most important auditions are for those students who wish to enter SBS2 and those who wish to enter the 1st year RBA.
- During the auditions for SBS2, students will be judged on their talent and physique as well as receive a medical examination. No prior knowledge of ballet or dance is required at this stage.
- In order to participate in the auditions for the 1st year RBA the students do need to have a working knowledge of classical ballet.
- Students who have successfully completed the three years at SBS2 are automatically granted access to the RBA without the need for further auditions.
- Students who wish to join the RBA during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year will have to possess a thorough knowledge of classical ballet technique and meet the required physical demands.
- Those who wish to join the 5th or 6th year RBA, department classical dance, need to make an appointment for a private audition. They also need to have a thorough grounding in classical ballet and contemporary dance.
- Those who wish to join the 5th or 6th year RBA, department modern dance, have to enroll for the school´s two day contemporary dance workshop during which they will be judged on their ability and technique. A thorough grounding in classical ballet is required to participate in this workshop.
